What is Ball Mill?

Ball mill beneficiation process

2. The crushed ore particles are fed into the ball mill. The ball mill consists of a drum, a roller and grinding balls. When the drum rotates, the grinding balls interact with the ore, and the ore particles are continuously collided, worn and crushed through friction and impact force, and finally refined into particles of a certain size.

3. The ore particles processed by the ball mill usually contain particles of different sizes. In order to further purify, the particles need to be classified. Commonly used classification equipment includes screening machines, spiral classifiers, hydrocyclones, etc., which can separate ore particles according to particle size.

The grinding drum liner is a protective layer covering the inner wall of the grinding drum of the ball mill to protect the grinding drum from wear and chemical corrosion of the grinding balls; it is usually made of wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant materials, such as high-chromium alloy steel, rubber or polyurethane.

Grinding balls are usually made of steel balls or ceramic balls, and their size and material selection are determined according to the hardness of the material and the grinding requirements. The general diameter is between 20-125mm, and the super-large ball mill can reach 130-150mm.
