Regular sand is wet when exposed to water as the water molecules are attracted to the particles of sands, in contrast Magic sand is sand coated in a hydrophobic compound. Magic Sand begins as normal looking sand, When in contact with water the coated sand particles cling to each other, minimizing the surface area in contact with water. When water is removed from the sand, the sand is completely dry.

How to do:
Add water to a small clear up.
Slowly flow the hydrophobic sand from the plastic pouch into the water.

Observe how the sand pours and looks. The sand will coil magically through the water.
Do you see the silver layer between the sand and water? This is air trapped in between the water and sand.
Use a spoon and sprinkle a thin layer of sand onto the surface on the water, so it floats, gently poke the surface of the sand with a pen or your finger. Does it keep your finger dry?
Fill a teaspoon with the sand, submerge it in the water and turn it vertical. Take it out and touch with your finger. Amazingly, all stays dry!
